Activities of Senate Leaders

On the afternoon of December 02, 2002, Samdech Chea Sim, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, granted an audience to H.E Nguyen Dy Nien, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

On the morning of December 07, 2002, President of the Senate Samdech Chea Sim and his wife make an inspection visit on the contraction site of one hospital in Sam Rong commune, Dang Kor District, Phnom Penh.

On the afternoon of December 09, 2002, Samdech Chea Sim,
President of the Senate chaired a senate permanent committee meeting.

On the morning of December 16, 2002, the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia held its 8th Plenary Session of the 1st legislature, under the chairmanship of the Senate President Samdech Chea Sim, to cover the following agendas:

-Approve the Senate’s Activity Report between the 7th  and 8th penury session   

-Examine the FUNCINPEC’S proposal to appoint H.E. Mrs. Men Maly for the position of chairwoman of the First Senate commission.

-Anouncement of the newly appointed Senate members

-H.E Chhim Seak Leng, replacement of H.E Kim Sokha

-H.E Kong Sareach replacement of H.E Hang Chuon

-Elections to fill in senate members of the First, Sixth and Seventh Commissions.

-Review the second commission’s proposal for an amendment to article 26 of the Law Financial System, to be included in the Agenda of the 8th session

-Approval on the proposed Agenda of the 8th plenary session of the Senate and the date of the openning session

-Selection of a secretary of the 8th plenary session

-Other issues

On the morning of December 17,2002, Samdech Chea Sim, President of the senate of the kingdom of Cambodia, granted an audience courtesy to Mr. Eisa Binmasser Alserkal, member of world Islamic league who donated seventy tons of rice.

On December 18, 2002, Senate President Samdech Chea Sim of the kingdom of Cambodia granted and audience to Mr. Aing Chung Sin, director of Anngkor Century Hotel, who donated US $15,000 to the flood and drought-stricken citizen of Cambodia.

On December 23-24, 2002, the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, opened its permanent committee meeting and resumed its eighth plenary session, first legislature, under the chairmanship of Samdech Chea Sim, Sdech Krom Khun SISOWATH Chivan Monirak, First Vice president and H.E Nhek Bun Chhay, Second Vice President of the Senate under the Agenda :
-  Reviewing the law on “ 2003 Financial Management”.

On December 30-31,2002, The Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia resumed it eight plenary session, First legislature the under the presidency of the senate President Samdech Chea Sim, and H.E Nhek Bun Chhay, Second Vice President of the Senate under the Agenda:
-"Law on the Approval of the protocol for Special Arrangements for sensitive and Highly-sensitive products"
-"Law on Cambodia Accession to the International Convention on Harmonization of Product and coding system"
-"Law on Cambodia Accession to the International Convention on the creation of the council for custom cooperation"

-“Law on Approval of the Inter- Governmental Agreement between the Kingdom of Cambodia, People’s Republic of China, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on the Facilitation of the Cross-border Goods Transportation and people”
- “A law on the patent, utility models and industrial designs 

On the morning of December 09, 2002, the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia held a ceremony to commemorate the Fifty-fourth anniversary of International Human Rights Day, under the presidency of Sdech Krom Khum SISOWATH Chivan Monirak, First Vice President of the Senate.
On the morning of December 11, 2002, Sdech Krom Khum SISOWATH Chivan Monirak, First Vice President of the Senate granted an audience to a delegation of Members of the

People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, led by H.E Hatta Mastafa.
On December 17-18, 2002, First Vice Presided of the Senate Sdech Krom Khum SISOWATH Chivan Monirak presided over a discussion forum on “National Budget and linkages with the poverty alleviation vision, and Challenge” organized by the Senate commission, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI).
On the afternoon of December27, 2002, Sdech Krom Khun SISOWATH Chivan Monirak, First Vice President and H.E Nhek Bun Chhay, Second Vice President of the Senate, chaired a Senate Permanent Committee meeting.
